Various Artists “Creek Drift Mosaic: A Field Guide to Southern Cosmic” CDR & Zine (Hooker Vision)

$8.00
Since 2008 Hooker Vision has sought to make connections with other weirdo musicians and artists in the wild. Even before that, Grant and Rachel were compiling zines with contributions from other artists in their hyper-local area. Over the last 15 years or so, thanks to the rich tape trade across the American underground, that network grew and bore fruit. Like the mycelium that runs beneath us all, and possibly brought here from another planet or galaxy beyond, Hooker Vision has documented clusters of these fruiting bodies with particular emphasis in the states touching Georgia where the imprint is based. The lineup presented here aims to collect similar artists that have generally been operating geographically close to one another. Over half have been or still are label heads, representing longstanding curatorial efforts from Housecraft Recordings, Watery Starve Press, Headway Recordings, Kimberly Dawn Recordings, Hymns, Permanent Nostalgia, Diatom Bath, Adversary, and of course Hooker Vision.

This field guide aims to present a catalog of psychonauts that have inspired one another, performed together, and often released together on one another’s labels or in splits appearing on labels far beyond our region:

Observance (Ross Gentry – Asheville, NC)
Merryl (Will Isenogle & Jerm Joachicide – Asheville, NC)
Farewell Phoenix (Lynn Fister – Asheville, NC)
Night Sky Body (Frank Baugh – Murfreesboro, TN)
Brainworlds (Mason Brown – Atlanta, GA)
R. Grant Evans (Winterville, GA)
Motion Sickness of Time Travel (Rachel Evans – Winterville, GA)
I, Conduit (Jeffry Astin & Brian Kinkaid – Athens, GA)
Ironing (Andrew Chadwick – Gainesville, FL)
Perspectives (Josh Tippery & Kyle Conklin – Gainesville, FL)
Includes a print zine-style field guide compiled by Hooker Vision, including a bio and essential listening recommended for each artist, their current recording location, and spreads of live show photos from 2010 to 2013, as well as an assortment of posters and tour pics from HV archives.

From the snow-dusted caps and icy scenic highways of the Appalachian foothills, through the overgrown fields and dilapidated sheds of Georgia’s Piedmont, down to the muddy tidepools and shell-scattered sandbars – the soundscapers found here take the textures beneath their feet to paint entire universes in the sky.
