Description
Kitchen Typists, the short-lived collaboration between Athens, GA’s Jeramy Lamanno (Hot Fudge, Garbage Island) and Philadelphia, PA’s Jason Henn (Honey Radar) deliver more than 30 tracks recorded between the summers of 1997 and 2001. Originally released on CD-R via Dust Bunny Records in 2001, “Hymns for Phones” is now getting the Hooker Vision CDR treatment, the best possible format for capturing the hazy hiss of pre-/early-internet era experimentalism.
Listeners will find that the eclectic forays into experimentation run the gamut of spoken-word accidents, snippets of guitar balladry, primitive 4-track musique concrete, and a few all-too-brief jams with full band instrumentation, seasoned and served up with just the right amount of post-production weirdness and reversed tape fuckery. A study in juxtaposition and contrasts, the “songs” and “anti-songs” equally important to the surrealist collage-flow.
