A collection of archival recordings, if not sonically, then conceptually linked. Opening with “carbon (Lens)”, a lush, pulsing drone—dense and full of fuzz, the album takes an unexpected turn towards what may have once been called folktronica—an acoustic guitar loops and pirouettes across a skittering hard drive on the album’s centerpiece, “halogen 0”. The album ends with a brief reprise of the opener with “carbon (Pop)”. Gorgeous outsider laptop music.
