Description
Most of Rachel’s solo performances are improvised more than practiced exact replicas from her discography. This show was special though, and saw Rachel attempting as closely as she could a setlist with her favorites pulled from various albums. It includes a performance of Our City, Retrograde, and Ouroboros among others in a seamless show ending with gentle improvised drone. In person it premiered projected excerpts from the independent film she’d just finished scoring “An Evening Song (for three voices)” directed by Graham Swan.
The evening was graciously captured by fellow Athens-based musician David McCoy on the night of August 5, 2023 at Bolo Bolo Gallery in Athens, GA.
Many thanks extended to dear friends and collaborators LeeAnn Peppers and Lydian Brambalia who shared the stage on this evening and extended the invite for a solo performance opportunity as well as a live improvisation (hookervision.bandcamp.com/album/trio-improvisation-live-from-athens-ga-08-05-2023). The recordings and sets on this date were the impetus for our live CDr series documenting experimental shows as releases in Athens, GA.
